Itineraries

Three Days in Bali, Done Properly

Ubud first, then the coast. Short, but not rushed — the drives are the shortest of any of our itineraries.

The short answer

Three days in Bali works if you stay in two places at most: two nights in Ubud for the culture and the terraces, one on the south coast for the sunset, and nothing further afield than Mount Batur.

  • Two bases, one move — no more
  • 90 minutes from the airport to Ubud
  • Batur sunrise is the only early start
  • Best suited to a stopover or an add-on to a longer trip

Day by day

Three Days

A shape, not a schedule. Every day here is moved around to suit you.

Ubud, and the terraces

Private transfer up from the airport, about ninety minutes. Settle in, then a late-afternoon walk through the rice terraces before the light goes, and dinner in the villa.

Batur and the artisans

An optional pre-dawn drive to Mount Batur for sunrise over the caldera. Back for a long breakfast, then a silversmith at Celuk in the afternoon and a couples spa ritual before dinner.

South to the coast

Check out after breakfast and transfer down to the coast. A clifftop afternoon, sunset somewhere with a view of the Indian Ocean, and a private dinner to close it.

Three days is genuinely short for Bali. If you can find two more, the 5-day itinerary gives you the water day and stops the last morning feeling like a departure lounge.

Making it yours

This Is a Starting Point

Nobody travels this itinerary exactly as written. These are the three changes couples ask for most.

Slow it down

The commonest request, and usually the right one. Dropping one location and keeping the nights turns a tour into a honeymoon.

More wellness, fewer temples

Daily yoga on the deck, a second spa ritual, and the drive time that would have gone to a fourth temple given back to you.

Add a day on the water

A private boat to the Nusa islands slots into any of these itineraries and is the day couples most often say they would repeat.

Questions About This Itinerary

Is three days enough for Bali?

For a honeymoon, barely. It works as a stopover or bolted onto a longer trip elsewhere in Asia. If Bali is the whole honeymoon, five nights is the point where it stops feeling compressed.

Do we have to do the Batur sunrise?

No, and plenty of couples skip it. It means leaving at two in the morning. The alternative is a long breakfast and the artisan villages, which is a gentler day.

Can we stay in one place instead?

Yes, and over three days it is often better. Staying in Ubud and driving down for the last afternoon removes a whole check-in and check-out.

What is the drive time in total?

About three and a half hours across the three days, which is the least of any of our itineraries.

Is the price per person?

Per couple, land only. Flights, most lunches and dinners, insurance and visas sit outside it.
