How This Site Is Written

Where the numbers come from, how often they are checked, and what we do when we get one wrong.

In short

Everything on this site is written by the people who plan the trips, prices and seasonal claims are reviewed quarterly, and we correct errors in place with a note rather than quietly editing them away.

  • Written in-house, not outsourced to a content agency
  • Pricing and seasonal pages reviewed every quarter
  • We book what we recommend — stated plainly, not buried
  • Corrections are noted, not silently overwritten

Four principles

What We Hold Ourselves To

Most of this is unremarkable. It is worth writing down because a good deal of travel content does none of it.

Specific over impressive

A price range with a season attached is more useful than "from" followed by an optimistic number. Where we cannot be specific we say the range is wide and why.

First-hand where possible

Villa descriptions come from someone who stayed there. Restaurant and operator notes come from someone who went. Where they do not, the page says so.

Conflicts declared

We are a booking business. If we recommend a villa, we probably earn from it. That is the model, and hiding it would be the only dishonest part.

Dated, not evergreen

Prices, seasons and visa rules move. Anything time-sensitive is reviewed quarterly and we would rather remove a claim than let it quietly go stale.

When we get it wrong

Corrections

We publish a lot of specific numbers, which means some of them will be wrong. Here is what happens then.

Tell us

Email [email protected] with the page and what is wrong. You do not need to be a client, and we would rather hear it from you than not hear it.

We check it properly

Against the source, not against what we remember writing. If you are right we say so.

We correct in place

The page is fixed and, where the error was material, the correction is noted rather than the mistake being made to disappear.

Found an Error? Tell Us

Genuinely — a specific correction from a reader is worth more than another round of internal review.
